A small town in southwest France, founded in 1342 by Philip VI of Valois. Designed according to a highly organized grid pattern, the town is built around a huge wooden market hall, which still stands in the center of the square. The belfry overlooking it dates from 1834 and gives the whole place a slightly film set feel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 15th century, Revel made a name for itself thanks to the trade in woad\u2014a blue plant that brought fortune to the entire region. During the Wars of Religion in the 16th century, the town remained relatively quiet, allowing it to preserve many of its original buildings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it was in the 19th century that Revel really stepped up its game: it became a national benchmark in cabinetmaking. Even today, exceptional furniture is produced there, and several artisans perpetuate this expertise in workshops open to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
